Having it with two of three units says to me it's a pretty widespread defective equipment problem. Having this problem with one unit, it could have been a fluke. Use TiVo to access music, check out web videos, view personal content, and more. By this time, I had a lot of shows recorded and decided that as I had "fixed" the problem with tape, I'd not push the issue for now. After a few weeks I finally called and they of course said they didn't have any record of saying they would send the replacement first. They never did this, instead they sent me an email authorization to return my bad unit several days later when I should have been receiving the replacemet (which email I didn't see right away). If necessary, test your internet connection speed. To make this possible, check Allow callers to access my local. Select your wireless network from Choose a network. Your TiVo is expecting to use the serial connection to access your home network and the Internet. To connect using Ethernet, make sure the Ethernet cable is connected to the back of your DVR. Choose the network connection type you want to use. Check the signal strength, make sure you are getting a good signal. Menu > Settings > Network Settings > Change Network Settings. Make sure you have a steady Wi-Fi connection, test the connection if necessary. I contacted TiVo support on the initial unit and they said they would send me a replacement box and I could then send the bad unit back. Make sure the TiVo Stream 4K is getting a good wireless signal. This occurred on initial setup of new boxes. I have to pull the cable to one side and tape it there to get a reliable connection. Connect an Ethernet cable from the TiVo box to an Ethernet port on your router or wall. Another problem I have is that the ethernet sockets on two of my TPs are "bad." If you just plug the cable in, the connection is intermittent. Going into the Network settings in the menu usually gets rid of the problem. However, when I check on my PC with Network Magic, it says that the units are connected. The usage meter does not monitor any data used by the satellite internet system itself, only data consumed by us.I've had the same problem with my hard-wired TP units.(No WiFi appliances, smart TVs or Nest thermostats or anything like that) There are no other internet consuming devices in the house that I can think of.We have five TiVos operating in the house (I did mention that I am a TiVo geek), all using OTA: one Bolt, three Roamios and a Series3 TiVoHD.(You can also do the faster 'Test Internet connection'). Recently, my wife and I were away from home on vacation for over a week giving me a unique opportunity to see how much data was being used while we were not home. I called Tivo, and asked them to make the account change from 'Opt-Out', waited about 15 minutes, and then I did a 'Connect to Tivo Service' update. Because it's limited, I also have a Usage Meter that I can use to monitor how much data is being used each day. Living in rural area, I have satellite internet with a limited amount of high-speed data. (Disclaimer: this is a completely unscientific, layman's observation provided for your amusement and curiosity.)
